Although he passed away in 2015, he remains deeply revered and respected by a vast number of Buddhists and disciples.
The following biography of Luang Pho Koon Parisuttho is drawn from the commemorative book published for the royal cremation ceremony honoring the "Head Teacher" (a title bestowed upon him as a body donor for medical education), Phra Thep Witthayakhom (Luang Pho Koon Parisuttho). Luang Pho Koon Parisuttho was born on Thursday, October 4, 1923 (the 10th day of the waning moon of the 10th lunar month, Year of the Pig), at Ban Rai Village No. 6, Kut Phiman Subdistrict, Dan Khun Thot District, Nakhon Ratchasima Province. Upon reaching the age of 21, he was ordained as a monk at the Phatthasima (consecrated ordination hall) of Wat Thanon Hak Yai, Kut Phiman Subdistrict, Dan Khun Thot District, Nakhon Ratchasima Province, on May 2, 1944, with Phra Khru Wicharayatikit officiating. The District Ecclesiastical Chief of Dan Khun Thot served as his preceptor; Phra Athikan Si of Wat Ban Chan was the Kammavachacariya (proclaiming teacher); and Phra Athikan Suk of Wat Khok Rak was the Anusavanacariya (announcing teacher). Later, he became a disciple of Luang Pho Daeng Chinbutto of Wat Ban Nong Pho (Samnak Takhro Subdistrict, Thepharak District, Nakhon Ratchasima Province) and Luang Pho Khong Phuttasaro of Wat Thanon Hak Yai (Kut Phiman Subdistrict, Dan Khun Thot District, Nakhon Ratchasima Province). Regarding his education as a monk, he passed the Nak Tham Tri (Elementary Dhamma Scholar) examination at the study center of Wat Thanon Hak Yai. After thoroughly studying the Dhamma and Vinaya-covering the aspects of scriptural study (pariyatti), practice (patipatti), and realization (pativedha)-he undertook a barefoot pilgrimage (thudong) from Wat Ban Rai to Phra That Phanom in Nakhon Phanom Province and crossed into Laos (Lao PDR).In Laos, he traveled to various locations such as Phu Khao Khwai, Luang Prabang, the Plain of Jars, Li Phi Rapids, and Si Phan Don (Four Thousand Islands), before entering Cambodia. Throughout the years, he observed the Rains Retreat at various temples across Thailand. Upon returning to observe the Rains Retreat at Wat Ban Rai, he led the villagers in constructing the Ban Rai School without utilizing any government budget.
Furthermore, he donated funds for the construction of temples and numerous government facilities-including hospitals, health centers, schools, colleges, police stations, police housing, district offices, and roads-in addition to making other charitable donations. For the procurement of life-saving equipment, ambulances, fire trucks, medical instruments, and various medical supplies. In recognition of his numerous virtuous deeds, he was graciously bestowed with ecclesiastical ranks by His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej at the Amarin Winitchai Throne Hall within the Grand Palace, as follows. 12 August 1992: Bestowed the ecclesiastical rank of Phra Yan Witthayakhom Thera.10 June 1996: Bestowed an elevated ecclesiastical rank of Phra Ratchawitthayakhom. 12 August 2014: Bestowed a further elevated ecclesiastical rank of Phra Thep Witthayakhom.
Luang Phor presented funds to His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej for royal charitable purposes at His Majesty's discretion: a sum of 72,000,000 Baht (seventy-two million Baht) on 11 January 1995 at Wat Ban Rai, and another sum of 100,000,000 Baht (one hundred million Baht) on 18 April 2008 at the Chitralada Royal Villa. These contributions represent a portion of the funds he donated for the construction of temples and facilities for government agencies and private entities, all for the public benefit. Public welfare funds amounted to as much as 4 billion baht. Luang Phor Koon Parisuttho passed away on May 16, 2015, at the age of 92, having spent 71 years in the monkhood.
