Som dej Wat Rakhung Phim Yai History. Som dej Wat Rakhung Phim Yai at Wat Rakhung Khot Sitaram was built by Somdej Phutthachaiyarat (To Phrom Rangsi), revered as the most highly esteemed monk in Thailand. Collectors both locally and internationally hold Somdej Wat Rakhung in high regard, often referring to it as the Emporium of Sacred Objects. This has led collectors, both old and new, to desire possession of Somdej Wat Rakhung, considering it an auspicious treasure. Somdej Phutthachaiyarat (To Phrom Rangsi) was born on April 17, 2331 B.
In the morning, in Kaichon Subdistrict, Tha Ruea District, Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya Province. His mother's name was Kaes, while his father's name remains undisclosed. It is said that his mother was a villager from Tha Ruea Subdistrict, Mueang District, Uttaradit Province. His father might have been from the city of Kamphaeng Phet, as there is a record stating that in the year of Kaga, Buddhist Era 1211 2391 B. , Somdej Phutthachaiyarat (To) Wat Rakhung, Bangkok, visited relatives in Kamphaeng Phet City. This indicates that he had relatives in Kamphaeng Phet. Somdej Phutthachaiyarat (To Phrom Rangsi) was born during the reign of King Buddha Yodfa Chulaloke (Rama I) and lived for five reigns.During the time when the first royal statue was sculpted (currently located at Phra Thep Bidon Castle), the sculptor had to rely on individuals who were born during and had seen the reign of King Rama I. One of those individuals was Somdej Phutthachaiyarat (To Phrom Rangsi). The sacred prints of Somdej Wat Rakhung Khot Sitaram are recognized in the industry with five standard prints. Phim Song Chedi (Stupa Print).
Phim Khet Bua Tum (Lotus Pedestal Print). Phim Than Sam (Triple Base Print).
Phim Prok Pho (Large Flower Base Print). The majority of the material used in Somdej' sacred items is a mixture of white cement and Buddhist powder, including Maharat, Itthije, Patomang, Trinisingshe, etc. Somdej Phutthachaiyarat was the one who developed the ancient method of making sacred powder.
It involved writing on a board, erasing, and then collecting the powder to create the sacred items. Additionally, other materials such as burnt gold leaf, broken bricks, flower offerings, etc.
Mixing with sesame oil prevented the sacred items from becoming fragile or breaking easily. Somdej Phutthachaiyarat (To Phrom Rangsi) served as the abbot of Wat Rakhung for the sixth time when he was 65 years old, and he governed the temple for about 20 years. He passed away on June 22, 2415 B. The exact number of sacred items created by Somdej Wat Rakhung is difficult to determine as they were created according to the available materials and were not counted. However, Somdej created them over a period of approximately six years, from 2409 to 2415 B. Finally, I wish to dedicate merit and blessings to Somdej Phutthachaiyarat (To Phrom Rangsi), to protect him and his family from all dangers.
